Identifying Theme of a Story

$8.50

Teaching theme to students with autism and special needs can be tricky! This resource was created to include simple language and visuals to identify theme of a story.

The following common themes are taught: compassion, cooperation, courage, friendship, honesty, loyalty, perseverance, acceptance, family, and growing up.

This unit includes 3 components:

  1. concept/vocabulary instruction and practice pages
  2. two mentor texts with two levels of questions
  3. 5 reading passages with two levels of questions (2nd/3rd grade reading level & 1st grade reading level)

I created this resource to teach my students accessing the general curriculum and those accessing the adapted curriculum at the same time!

This resource now includes a BOOM Learning version to help teach your virtual students! Click here to see a preview of the deck. The deck includes practice with the vocabulary words and a digital version of the 5 reading passages at the end of the resource.

You must have an account with BOOM Learning to access the digital task cards.
